A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of Bishop David O’Connell of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who was killed in his dwelling in Hacienda Heights.
The California-based auxiliary bishop was shot to demise on Saturday afternoon, with legislation enforcement saying the arrest of a suspect on Monday.
Regulation enforcement responded to the house following an emergency medical name round 1pm on Saturday and found the Roman Catholic bishop wounded by a gunshot. He was pronounced lifeless on the scene.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division has stated they’ve launched a homicide investigation.
On Sunday, the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Most Reverend José Gomez, stated in a press release that “we discovered early this morning from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s workplace that they’ve decided that the demise of Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell yesterday was a murder. We’re deeply disturbed and saddened by this information”.
“Allow us to proceed to wish for Bishop Dave and his household. And allow us to pray for legislation enforcement officers as they proceed their investigation into this horrible crime,” he added. “We ask Our Blessed Mom Mary to intercede and be a mom for all of us in this second of disappointment and ache.”
