A dog was abandoned at a Pennsylvania airport whereas the man accused of leaving him seemingly obtained on a flight, police say.
Now, the West Virginia man faces fees of abandonment of animals, neglect of animal and cruelty to animals, in line with a Nov. 20 information launch from the Allegheny County Police Division.
Mikey the dog was found in a parking storage at the Pittsburgh Worldwide Airport on Nov. 16, police mentioned.
He had a dental an infection and was taken in by a neighborhood shelter.
Police believed the 68-year-old man was flying to California and “frolicked inside the airport earlier than leaving the dog in the short-term parking storage previous to his flight,” in line with an earlier information launch.
Pictures shared by police present Mikey with the man, then later tied to a pole subsequent to a parking spot in the storage.
After Allegheny County police mentioned they recognized the man from Windsor Heights, they struggled to contact him, in line with the launch. The division determined to maneuver ahead with submitting fees after consulting with the district legal professional’s workplace.
Mikey isn’t the first dog to be abandoned in a parking space at the Pittsburgh airport in latest months.
In August, a small brown and white dog was found in a stroller outdoors the airport, McClatchy Information reported.
When airline officers advised the passenger the dog needed to be in a crate to fly, the proprietor left their dog outdoors and obtained on the airplane, Allegheny County police mentioned.
The shelter that took Mikey in, Animal Associates, is working with the state dog warden to get a courtroom order that might enable Mikey to obtain “correct care,” police mentioned.
Mikey is not up for adoption at the moment.
